Event Overview
Amid escalating global tensions, Europe finds itself at a historic turning point. Russia’s expanding influence on Europe’s borders has heightened security concerns, while high-stakes elections and political shifts worldwide contribute to a sense of unease. In this pivotal moment, choices made now will reverberate across decades, shaping not only the continent’s security but the global balance of power and democracy.
The Black Sea regions lie at the heart of this geopolitical complexity, as diverse military, economic, and legal interests converge and clash among coastal states. Here, nations are striving to achieve conflicting objectives, often resulting in policies that seem inconsistent and erratic. This volatile environment of rising risks and fierce competition calls for a deeper, strategic understanding of the forces in play.
Objectives of the Conference
Strategic Dialogue on the Geopolitical Nexus of the Black Region
Facilitate a comprehensive dialogue that connects the geopolitical tensions of the Black Sea region (BSR). This will include an examination of shared security concerns, economic interdependencies, and their broader implications on global geopolitics.
Hybrid Warfare and Information Dominance
Consideration of how new forms of warfare, including cyber operations, disinformation campaigns, and economic coercion, are being used in the Black Sea regions. This will shed light on the role of non-traditional warfare methods in modern conflicts.
The event is organised by the Embassy of Ukraine, IDMO, Federation of Humans Rights (FIDU), Luiss Data Lab and Center of Geopolitics.
The event will be on 5th December 2024 (10-12 AM) at Luiss Campus, Viale Pola 12, Rome (Sala Delle Colonne)
